Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 July 2026

In short: ZiG (Zen i Guess) processes your notifications entirely on your device.

The app has no internet permission, so it is structurally incapable of making a network request. It has no servers, no accounts, and no third-party services.

It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your data. Nothing you see, and nothing ZiG learns from you, ever leaves your phone.

This Privacy Policy explains how the ZiG Android application (“ZiG”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information. It applies to the app distributed through the Google Play Store and built from the open-source repository. By using ZiG, you agree to the practices described here.

Our core principle

ZiG is designed so that privacy is a property of the build, not a promise you are asked to trust. The android.permission.INTERNET permission is explicitly removed from the app’s merged Android manifest via tools:node="remove". As a result the app cannot open a network connection of any kind. There is no code path, and no permission, that would allow your information to be uploaded anywhere.

Information the app accesses on your device

To do its job, ZiG needs to read certain information from your device. All of it is processed locally, on your phone, and none of it is sent to us or to anyone else.

Notifications

With your permission, ZiG runs as a notification listener so it can read incoming notifications (including their title, text, and the app that posted them) so it can decide whether each one should be shown or filtered, and re-post the ones that pass. Notification content is evaluated on-device and is never transmitted.

Contacts

If you grant contacts permission, ZiG reads your contacts’ display names so it can recognise notifications from people you know and let them through. Contact data is held only in the app’s local memory and database for matching purposes and is never transmitted. You can decline this permission; contact-based filtering simply will not run.

Apps on your device

ZiG can see only the apps that have a home-screen launcher icon (the ones you can open), so you can choose which of them it manages. It uses Android’s scoped app-visibility mechanism rather than a broad list of every installed package, so system and background components stay invisible to it. Apps you do not explicitly enable are never inspected, and this information is used only for the in-app selection screen and is never transmitted.

Information the app stores

ZiG keeps the following on your device, in its private local storage, so the app can function and improve its decisions for you:

This information lives only in the app’s sandboxed storage on your device. It is not backed up to any server we operate.

On-device machine learning

When deterministic rules cannot decide, ZiG classifies a notification using machine learning models that run entirely on your device (a TensorFlow Lite classifier and a MediaPipe text embedder). The model files ship inside the app, and both the inputs and outputs remain on your phone. No notification text, embedding, or model output is ever uploaded.

Information we do not collect

ZiG contains no code to do any of the following:

Permissions summary

Data retention and deletion

Because all data stays on your device, you are always in control of it:

Children’s privacy

ZiG is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.

Security

ZiG’s data is stored in Android’s private, per-app storage, which is isolated from other apps by the operating system. Because the app has no network access, your information is not exposed to interception in transit or to a remote breach.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
